Paragraghs
There are 10 sections, below is its 1.~4. in this article:
1.The most important
things in job searching are security and information confidentiality.
2.How to define job
searching direction? What can’t we do if everything is legal, reasonable and
logical?!
3.Do you want to work for a MNC?! It means working for headquarter of a MNC
or its subsidiary/branch’s in your country?!
4.The style of your
resume, it needs to match your style or to match the style of the work you are applying
for?
Sharing Experience
1.The most important things in job
searching are security and information confidentiality: is there anyone
disagree with this?!
Personal safety is
the most important thing, and, providing personal information in job searching
procedures may cause some issues, hence,
I suggest both of the interviewers side and interviewees side to consider to
redefine the right timing of requesting/providing the right information, for
example, a list of interviewees’ family members and their name, and why
interviewees need to reveal this information before they are sure they are
hired?. According to this situation, it is your personal information
needs confidentiality rather than your whereabouts?! If you get an interview
opportunity and you need to attend the interview at their work office, you must
let your acquaintance know where you are going and who you’ll meet to protect
yourself more earlier; it is similar if you are seeking for opportunities to work
abroad, I suggest you to get more information and seek for help from the
governments when required, please be advised to ensure all those information
listed in job board are legal and appropriate, and, at least, you need to
confirm the company profile and its work location accordingly.
Regarding personal
data, have you ever encountered the companies want you to provide: ID number, a list of relatives or family
members’ name and their occupation and ID number, your and your family’s
property situation, a copy of bank passbook or knowing you own your house or it’s
rental, and the number of your monthly expenditures etc.?!
I’ve experienced
this, it’s true and no lie, in my experience, it only happened to Taiwanese
companies, I didn’t provide all the information they want (sometimes, I forgot
my concern in data security issues and give the data I don’t want to reveal),
it made the recruiters have particular concern then I explained [ it is because I'm not the employee, yet, I’ll
provide these information after I’m hired, and part of them, I hope could know
the purpose and the timing the company will use it( for my decision to give or not)];
in my consideration, all the companies say they will do their best to protect
all the personal information, and, in fact, in their recruiting work process,
there are 3 persons at least, including contact person, HR manager and hiring
manager, they can access my provided data, and, besides the data security
issues, relatively, I feel uncomfortable that I know nothing about these
people. As I cannot ensure the way
others doing data protection for me, only I can do is to manage the way I
reveal my data, thus, I choose not to provide or provide part of the
information the companies want me to give. For your reference.
2.How to define job searching
direction? What can’t we do if everything is already legal, reasonable and logical?!
(1) Can we pursue high
pay job?! Please consider below first:
A.Why the employer
would like to offer such a high pay job to you who have no work experience?!
B.There are many
kinds of high pay jobs, which one you would like to do and how many years you can
work there?
C. If you feel
uncomfortable in the middle of your tenure, are you willing to go back to a general
level salary job?
When I was a university student, the
monthly salary of a junior auditor of sizable accountant firms was less than
TWD30,000, however, it was higher than average amount then, and, in job market,
there was a type of job, Karaoke Girl or Karaoke Boy, their monthly salary was
around TWD 50,000, it is attractive, and the firms offered them meals and
Karaoke package, all were free, it’s amazing, right? And there was an Auditing
professor bringing us a brainstorming question: do you want to apply for it?!
How many years you can work for it?! It can help you to accumulate what kind of
work experience that is helpful to your future?! If you are not happy in the
middle of the tenure, would you like to go back to the work that only pays you
30,000?! And, you need to pay the bill for your own meal and fees if you want
to go to the Karaoke for fun. Think clearly for your future!
These are practical and very good questions I also advise others when being asked for suggestion. I sincerely thank our professor and his
good advice of wisdom.
(2) I affirm the
senior colleagues’ opinion that people need to choose to work for things they
have passion, otherwise, they may regret years later, however, not all are
lucky to get their dream job in the beginning, more than that, people having
work passion doesn’t mean they are good at it (just like my current studying in
marketing situation), and our ideal jobs are not necessarily able to bring us
enough money, these kind of issues are practical. And I also agree with the so-called “ having a job first, and
pursuing a good job later”, however, it is not applicable to me because:
my personality. This is for your reference: to me, [to have a job first] means [I go for working for a job I don’t like, and I’m always preparing for leaving and to go for another interview,
get hired by a right job], in this kind of attitude, I usually cannot find a
job so I don’t need to consider the job application or work interview
preparation. That is because I usually ignore job that is not suitable to me, I
ignore it with direct reaction when seeing it. What about you in this kind of
situation?!
[Tests for sincerity in job
searching, interviewees please try to answer below]
If you are trying
3 ~ 5 potential work firms, but now we tell you we want to hire you. Please
answer:
A. How many days
you need to have to consider our offer and reply to us?
B. Level of your
work preference with us. The bigger number the higher level, 1 – 14?
C. Only 0.5
seconds thinking is allowed: in your
mind, how many number our company is ranked?! 😆
3.Do you want to work for a MNC?! It means working for headquarter of a MNC
or its subsidiary/branch’s in your country?!
Status\Nationality |
Taiwan |
Other Countries |
Work in Group HQ |

O(K) |
Work in Group Sub in TW |

Manage overseas' sub./branch |

Above chart lists my work experience summary, O stands for my having no work experience in MNCs HQ.
In Taiwan job
market, mostly, MNCs mean the subsidiaries or branches in Taiwan of foreign
companies, and people majorly speak English at work, this also happens in
companies in non-English speaking countries. Usually, people who would like to
seek for work opportunities of MNCs because they heard (1) MNCs offer “high
pay” jobs, (2)MNCs have more organized management and policies, (3)they would
like to experience multicultural work environment, (4)MNCs are….In my work experience: MNCs in Taiwan,
besides people speak English frequently, it is not all the same as “what you’ve
heard”, situation differs from companies to companies, including salary issue,
what you heard , maybe, it only applies for “the company you are discussing”.
If you would like to work for a place which work culture differs from that in your country, I suggest
you directly apply for the work opportunity of their
HQ in another country, that work opportunity is like above (K) in the
chart, the culture in the
environment will be surely not the same as in your country.
HQ=Corporate management policies
definer, management style builders, subsidiaries (branches) = policies
follower, which matches your personality?! (there is also
exception. My former employer, Taikoo Motors Group in Taiwan, its Parent company
is Swire Group in Hong Kong and the business owner is from U.K, #Swire family;
in their decision making procedures and policies implementation, we can know,
Taikoo Motors is authorized to have the rights to setup their own management
style and work culture).
Are you able to adapt that
subsidiaries of MNCs may be out of synchronicity with information of their HQ 👉 I used to attend
the work interview of those subsidiaries, I found that the hiring managers(
their President or HR Head of Taiwan subsidiaries) were completely not aware of news about corporate policies change
released by HQ days ago, it is like: even your neighbors have known the company
you are working for has changed their management policies but you has not
received the notice, yet, how embarrassing it is; in these interview, most of the answers
to my questions were: [it depends on our HQ’s consideration, the subsidiaries
are not allowed to know that.], I am not sure it is the interviewers didn’t
clarify their information or there was miscommunication between their HQ or
subsidiaries, or, the subsidiaries were not allowed to understand…? Work
environment like [Only we can do is to
follow the rule], [It doesn’t matter if we don’t understand] is not a right
place to me, I didn’t accept the work offer. What’s your idea about this?!
What’s your work preference?!
There is an additional issue:In a work Group,
no matter which country they belong, and, usually, the HQ may assign a person
of managerial work level to switch to their subsidiaries and working in a
position higher than their current jobs or being the Country Head of the
subsidiary. If you are already in a managerial work level(e.g. Manager), and you
apply for a managerial work in a subsidiary of a Group company like mentioned
above, then, your interviewers or managers in the future, if they were just
assigned like the rotation description above, their work capability may be
similar to yours or has not reached your expectation on them for being your
managers, and, if you work with them, though you both don’t have communication
problems, however, there may be work opinion differ and the root cause is your
manager is less work experience then making the not right decision, however,
you also need to follow their work instruction just because your work level is
under them, you need to do things to follow a decision you disagree, can you
accept that kind of situation?! I
mention this for your mentally well preparation. Wishing you not
encountering things I’ve just said and I wish you get dream career and work result
accordingly.
4.The style of your resume, it needs to match your style or to match the
style of the work you are applying for?
There are some articles shared this
advice to job seekers(example): ”Marketing and
planning is a kind of vivid job, its job application resume shouldn't show
too restricted.”.
However, in my experience, you would never know resume reviewers’
opinion in this aspect, do not follow what you’re guessing to build your resume! Please [list those] you feel
[ you will be hired at the moment the reviewers seeing it] in your resume:
Marketing Manager
A received a resume for applying for a marketing job, its color in the resume
is excellent and the illustration is beautiful, however, the manager decided
not to interview this candidate. The reason is: ”this is not an advertisement
draft comparison, its art has occupied most area in the resume….”.
Marketing Manager
B doesn’t want to review resume only shows black and white image in words. The
reason is:it’s lack of creativity.
I suggest you describe everything more precise and
concise and directly and care less about what you've heard, please refer to:Consider these while building up
resume…20220103.
Bless you.
