My
answer: I don’t think it is better but it won’t cause negative impact.
I found
this discussion in a voting activity in LinkedIn, there were options, asking
opinions whether people would like to add personal address in full in resume.
The initiator mentioned, some recruiters may not to select resume with less
address information in their screening, because, they need this information to
calculate possible commuting time and transporting related allowance for this
candidate. However, there were also other kinds of point of views, some also
consider work skills, work attitude and suitability are more important than
address information, and they will not ignore applicants because of address
issue. Besides, there is also personal information security protection concern,
thus, it is acceptable if candidates didn’t provide detailed address
information.
I’m also a job
seeker. I also have concern about personal information protection issue and the
necessity of providing my home address in full when I apply for a job. No
matter it is a template in job banks in internet or editing my own resume, I
only provide the city I live in. Regarding personal information protection, all
the company would say their protection mechanism is complete, however,
sometimes, I received advertising emails or unidentified overseas calls after I
applied for jobs online; just like other opinion above, regarding the necessary
information, my work skill and work attitude is the first items I want to show
first in jobs matching, and only when I go to salary expectation procedure will
I talk about live address, and I used to relocate because of work location, I
feel shocked to know there are recruiters not to select candidates because of
address information incomplete.
In Taiwan, candidates
need to fill out companies’ standard personnel information forms before
arranged interview, and ID number, address, family members and their jobs…etc.
things not related to work are all required. Usually, I remark [available after on board or hired], or, I explain my concern in the reply
email.
Back to topic of this
sharing, I also hope could know:
Q1.What if the work
vacancy is a CEO role? Is the
amount of the commuting allowance also significant in the overall hiring budget
limit so the recruiters need candidates’ address for amount assessment?
Q2.Is it also a
mandatory item in a talent hunting firms recommended profile?
Q3.Mass recruiting
vacancies, such as those for fresh graduate( local or non-local), 3 or N months
resume collecting period before reviewing, bank clerks, Uber Eats or Food Panda
delivery man, and how would the recruiters review so many candidates’ address
and calculate hiring cost more efficiently while selecting?
