Company A:Appropriate behavior is more important
than great performance ~2022

Please
share with us, if you only can keep 3 of these 4, which one you would like to
give up, what’s the choice your work firm would like to make among 「Sales」, 「Employees’ Reputation」, 「Employees’ Safety」 and 、「Work Ethics( including Legal Compliance)」?
There is definitely no
standard answer, however, in my point of view, it depends on the significance
of impact on things and people, and, some things contain more than 1 element of
above 4. For example, there is a salesperson, in order to win the opportunity
of attending the deal bidding worthy of TWD50 billion, he bought a TWD200 hand shake
drink to the purchasing person of the client side; is this a kind of bribery
needs to be severely punished? What’s your idea?
Situation
in this article is not complicated, but, in Company A and B, they made
different choice. I hope this brings useful and valued information for your
reference:
Company
A, Boss:Sales
is very important,however, right and wrong( behave properly) is much more
important!
I worked for Company A before. Something
happened, and A needed to solve it on the day the thing was reported. What was
that?
The
firm owner, Boss, received a report from employee X, saying our junior
colleague, G, encountered a sexual harassment by our Head of Sales, S, in an
activity outside of the company, causing G dared not to come to the office on
that day.
It happened unexpectedly, and A solved this issue in a very high speed also causing lots of gossips internally.
Soon,
Boss talked to us in a managers’ meeting about this case and his rule:
1.
To protect employees is one of the Company’s
responsibilities, and, please trust the Company will not discriminate our
employees due to their 「Work Level」.
2.
This
involved in「the
manager’s personal reputation」 and「the
employee’s mental and physical health」, so, the
Company needs to 「check and
verify the truth」very
quickly to protect related employees’ rights and to avoid any misunderstanding caused in waiting period.
Please realize this concern.
3.
Please also make efforts to deal with all of
the ongoing sales contracts, or, seek help from Legal or Customer Service
Department. If there is any loss caused by the resignation of the Sales Head,
the Company will take all the responsibility, please do not have any worry
about this.
Sales performance is important, but what I value more
is whether each manager's work behavior can serve as a role model for employees.
And, the Company doesn’t want to create a fearful work environment to our
employees.
4.
We feel regret it caused fear to our employees.「We also appreciate the employee’s report, it provided
the Company opportunity of self-improvement. And the Company will reinforce work
procedures related to emergency case occurrence and make everyone work with no
fears.
In
this matter, I respect our Boss’ work courage and power a lot, and, the things
mentioned above I've marked in blue
are also those I respect and would like to learn from him most. As a viewer, do
you feel those things are supposed to be handled this way, and there is nothing
special about it?
But,
how will you react if your reputation and work rights are not protected, and
more than that, being hurt?
