Topic of the day:[ System Suppliers ] Pay for
customizing for me or pay for your learning? may not be a popular topic for some ERP or system process
suppliers 😁. However, I also hope could share this experience with
system suppliers and buyers for their better consideration between system [
price ] and [ value ] when they are defining system optimization work scope and
system price, moreover, knowing their system request is unique or actually a
general demand.
Special thanks to my nephew, Mr. Huang, for his sponsoring his photo unconditionally.💓
I worked for some different companies, and by coincidence, I
needed to participated or lead the system workflow optimization work projects
in those companies; in system suppliers selecting procedures, there were suppliers
requesting for additional charge if they have the opportunity to win our case.
They hope we can pay, partially or in full of their investment in customizing our system request, it was because
our workflow is unique and the industry specificity we belonged to,
they needed to adjust their system architecture
which was already been well built completely in order to create
the workflows to meet our needs.
Due to system suppliers’ good reputation in its industry, their
clients base (that means their service experience) and their proposed system customizing
unit price is not so high, we believed there was no fake description; however, I
didn’t quite understand about its logical inference and raised several
metaphors in discussion with them and hope could clarify and also increase my
own system implementation knowledge and common sense. I said:
1.
Regarding adjusting their
system architecture which was already been well built completely,
it is a way in balancing system workflow demand and supply, and it is just like
the demand and supply in choosing food to eat;if our
company chose fried food to eat, however, the system suppliers are expertise in
making Barbeque, so, the fact
is, we, our side, invited the wrong system suppliers for selection, we
went to the wrong restaurants, it was not to ask for making additional effort
by a Barbeque restaurant to make fried food to meet our needs, right?
2.
We are not the only one company
in our business industry; we need them to explain more about how unique our
system workflow is and to compare with others in the same industry.
3.
We would like to pay, buyout, additional cost for
the [uniqueness] of our system workflow customization. On the other hand, due
to our demand and additional investment, the system suppliers will earn not
only the money but also the experience
of building up our workflow, thus, we need them to ensure and prove in some way
to let us know that they will not use the experience they gained from us and provide
similar service to others, or, they need to pay us fees for patent or
copyrights when using it?
I have more than 10 years of system workflow implementation work
experience, however, I only got 2 kinds of response or result for above
questions:
1.
Finally we bought additional
hardware advised by system suppliers.
2.
The system suppliers self-absorbed
the system customizing cost.
-
Some system suppliers feel this
is an excellent discussion experience, after that, they also reviewed their
pricing procedures and hope could find out some required adjustment.
-
Some suppliers didn’t feel comfortable
about our negotiation, they self-absorbed the cost because they cannot
completely answer the questions we raised.
-
Some suppliers honestly said they
didn’t consider our industry work model to build up their system package before
they met us, and it is not in their service scope, so, they should not request
for additional charge for this but they hope we allow their longer work period
in supporting us for system workflow implementation and to achieve a win-win
outcome in this corporation.
